A man died following a refusal to comply, this Friday, October 14, in Paris. According to a police source contacted by France Bleu Paris, police wanted to check a vehicle, Cours de Vincennes, around 7 p.m. The driver allegedly refused to comply, according to this source, then the police opened fire. Another source tells our colleagues from France Info that two police officers used their weapons on the vehicle which was moving in their direction. Two other people were in the vehicle. They fled on foot.
Two open investigations
Two investigations have been opened : one is overseen by the IGPN (General Inspectorate of the National Police) for intentional homicide by a person holding public authority. The second is led by the second district of the judicial police for attempted murder of a person holding public authority. As to two police officers who fired, they were placed in police custody, indicates a police source to our colleagues from France Info. This kind of procedure is classic in this type of facts.
The other consequence is that traffic on tram line 3a was interrupted during the intervention. The RATP estimates, via twitter, that the recovery is estimated around 10 p.m. this Friday.
