Manchester City got scared. Quickly led by their neighbor Mancunian, the Skyblues ran behind the score for 50 minutes, lacking precision, before managing to turn the match around at the end of the match, Saturday March 3, to win 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium . A vital victory in the three-way race between Liverpool, City and Arsenal for the title of champion of England.

The cityzen afternoon got off to a bad start with a marvelous goal from Marcus Rashford. After a long ball, the Mancunian unleashed a luminous strike from 25 m to find the left corner of Ederson, helpless (0-1, 8th). The England international’s fifth goal with United against City in the Premier League, almost eight years after the first scored on March 20, 2016.

Phil’s move

The Skyblues immediately reacted and exerted total domination throughout the first act, hitting 18 times, but were sorely lacking in precision (only three shots on target), like Erling Haaland, who missed the inevitable goal alone in the six meters facing the empty goal. We finally had to wait until the hour mark to see City shake the net, on their 21st attempt of the match, with, again, a goal from elsewhere from Phil Foden, who cleared the same top corner as Rashford an hour earlier (1-1, 56th).

Still in control, Manchester City turned the match around thanks to a second goal from its sparkling attacking midfielder Foden, omnipresent in the cityzen offensive sector (9 shots, 18 balls hit in the opposing area), following a combination with Alvarez (2-1, 80th).

Scorer of his 18th goal of the season in all competitions with City, a week after scoring the only goal of the match at Bournemouth, the England international continues to leave his mark on the English championship at just 23 years old.

Meet in Liverpool

The match was sealed by Haaland lacking success throughout the match, but present to convert Rodri’s offering after a high recovery at the feet of Sofyan Amrabat (3-1, 90th+1).

A vital victory, the day after Liverpool’s victory after added time in Nottingham (0-1). The Skyblues will travel to the Reds on Sunday March 10 for a clash at the top of the Premier League between two clubs separated by only one point with 11 games remaining.
