In 10 years, she has become an essential artist and idolized by young people. Taylor Swift, on a world tour, returns to London for five dates at the legendary Wembley Stadium, from August 15 to 20, after her first concerts last June. For the occasion, the famous Victoria and Albert Museum has decided to dedicate a completely free exhibition to her in order to discover her looks and clothes worn at different stages of her life. Presented until September 8, the exhibition coincides with the school holidays. Nearly 500,000 fans are expected in the British capital for the next concerts, as part of her Eras tour.
To begin Taylor Swift’s exhibition, you have to go up to the third floor of the museum and enter the British Galleries. Amidst the 400-year-old art objects, a plexiglass box contains a black and gold dress. An outfit worn by the 34-year-old singer to promote her album Reputation. For 15-year-old Amélie, it is a unique experience. “It’s incredible, honestly, she says. A lot of things have never been exhibited before. The hat from one of his album covers, no one had seen it except on the cover, which is really cool.”
The 13-stop tour is a nod to her favorite number, scattered throughout the museum and representing different eras of her life. Visitors marvel at the cowboy boots Taylor Swift wore when she sang country music. “Perhaps we feel closer to Taylor when we see the clothes, says Alice, traveling to London with her mother. She introduced me to Taylor at the concert this year in Paris. So I went there reluctantly and I really discovered a complete artist. She really amazed me on stage, we’re not there by chance.”
The visit ends with the showing of childhood photos of the artist, who began writing his songs at the age of 12.
