The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is asking for the public’s help in order to get their hands on images or videos of the van attack that left two dead and nine injured last Monday in Amqui, in Bas-Saint- Lawrence.
“Given that this tragedy took place in the heart of downtown Amqui, moreover during a day of good weather, we do not rule out the possibility that people may possess certain video images from a surveillance camera, cellular device or other in connection with these events, ”indicates the police force, in a press release issued on Wednesday.
The SQ therefore asks “anyone with images” or information related to this event and who has not yet spoken has contacted him. It is possible to do so confidentially by contacting the Criminal Information Center of the Sûreté du Québec at 1 800 659-4264.
Recall that around 3 p.m. on Monday, a 38-year-old man, Steeve Gagnon, in his van, mowed down eleven pedestrians along St-Benoit Boulevard West, in Amqui. Two of these victims died while nine were injured, three of them seriously.
On Tuesday, the Crown filed dangerous driving charges against him.
