(Toronto) Organizers of the Grammy Awards in the United States say Drake is stepping down from the event celebrating excellence in music.
A representative from the National Academy of Arts and Sciences said Drake had asked to be removed from the two categories in which he was a finalist this year.
The Toronto artist was shortlisted for best rap album with Certified Lover Boy. In addition, his play with Future and Young Thug, Way 2 Sexy, was in the running for the best rap performance of the year.
The Academy representative said the organization withdrew both nominations at the request of Drake and his team.
The reasons for this decision are not yet known. Drake’s representatives declined to comment on the case.
