Dr. Lucie Opatrny will become CEO of the MUHC

Dr. Lucie Opatrny, who we have seen on occasion at a press conference to provide an update on the COVID-19 situation in Quebec, will take up new duties in Montreal starting at the end of January, while she will become the new President and CEO of the MUHC.

The board of directors of the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) confirmed his appointment Wednesday evening in a press release.

“Currently Assistant Deputy Minister in the General Directorate of University, Medical, Nursing and Pharmaceutical Affairs, Dr. Opatrny’s university training, her talent, her energy and her versatile experience in the health and social services network make her she is an exceptional natural candidate perfect for this function”, specifies the press release.

“We are extremely grateful to our outgoing President and CEO, Dr.r Pierre Gfeller. We wish him the best as we embark on a new chapter under the leadership of Dr.D Lucie Opatrny the week of January 30,” said Board Chairman Peter Kruyt.

The DD Opatrny holds a medical degree and a master’s degree in epidemiology and biostatistics from McGill University, as well as a master’s degree in healthcare management and a diploma in advanced negotiation from Harvard University.

Before taking on the duties of Assistant Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Lucie Opatrny was Director of Professional Services at the CISSS de Laval and at the Center hospitalier de St. Mary. She was also a practicing physician at the MUHC between 2004 and 2012 and taught at McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
