National Down Syndrome Day took place on Sunday November 19. Bérénice and Romain live as a husband and wife almost independently, to the great happiness of the bridegroom’s mother.

Sunday November 19 was National Down Syndrome Day, a disease caused by a chromosomal anomaly which affects 40,000 people in France. A day with one objective: to improve inclusion in educational and professional environments for people suffering from this disease. Bérénice and Romain, both carriers of Down syndrome, got married last year.

“They show us their capabilities”

Taken into the same structure when they were babies, they both live today, almost independently. A relief for Romain’s mother: “Little by little they demonstrate their abilities to us. To go shopping, to cook, to be responsible.”
