Dougie Hamilton back in training

Good news for the New Jersey Devils, as defenseman Dougie Hamilton resumed training on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old full-back has missed his team’s last 17 games with a broken jaw.

In today’s session, he was training on the first pair with Jonas Siegenthaler. This was reported by Devils house reporter Amanda Stein on her Twitter account.

The Devils signed Hamilton at a high price last summer through the free agent market. The Ontarian has signed a seven-year contract which earns him $9 million annually.

In 30 games in 2021-2022, the right-hander scored seven goals and was an accomplice to 13 successes from his teammates for 20 points. He also maintained a -9 differential and suffered 22 penalty minutes.

Heading into Tuesday night’s National League clash, the New Jersey club was last in the Metropolitan Division with a 17-28-9 record. The Devils return to action Thursday night when they visit the Penguins in Pittsburgh.
