Double parricide of La Bastide-Clairence: Sofiya Bodnarchuk acquitted

The verdict fell at 5 p.m. Sofiya Bodnarchuk is acquitted. Kevin Rouxel’s conviction, on the other hand, is confirmed. Such are the decisions in the interminable affair of the double parricide of La Bastide-Clairence. Kevin Rouxel was convicted of murder while his former wife was acquitted. The decision was rendered this Saturday, October 22, by the Landes Assize Court of Appeal, after seven hours of deliberation. After six reports, serial psychodramas and a conviction at first instance in Pau, this criminal decision is therefore the last against the two young people aged 29, unless there is an appeal in cassation.

Seven years of procedure

For three weeks, the debates took place before the jurors of the Landes Assize Court of Appeal. All the stages of the drama of La Bastide-Clairence in the Basque Country have been combed through and all the actors in this unfathomable story have been heard. February 20, 2016, Kévin Rouxel kills his parents in the family home in order to get their hands on the inheritance. His companion Sofiya Bodnarchuk was on the scene at the time of the crime, but has always denied her involvement in the development of the double murder. At first instance in Pau, Kevin Rouxel had been sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment for murder, while his ex-partner had been sentenced to 20 years for complicity.
