An intense Grand Prix with suspense guaranteed until the finish line. From the great start of the Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac), winner the day before the sprint race, to the victory of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) by one wheel ahead of the Spaniard Maverick Vinales (Aprilia) and the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), the pilots put on a great show during the Indonesian GP, Sunday October 15, on the Mandalika circuit. The Italian world champion carried out a very good operation because at the same time he regained his seat as leader of the MotoGP world championship, twenty-four hours after having lost it to “Martinator”.

The Indonesian furnace – almost 70°C felt on the asphalt – made the choice of tires even more crucial, as did the accuracy of the steering. After taking the lead at the end of the first straight, the Spaniard Jorge Martin fell halfway through while he largely dominated the race, with more than three seconds ahead of his first pursuer. An unexpected race event for Francesco Bagnaia, starting from 13th place on the grid, who caught Maverick Vinales eight laps from the finish. “I gave it my all in the first laps. And when I saw Jorge Martin crash, I said to myself, ‘pay attention to the tires, drive intelligently’,” reacted the pilot upon arrival.

Author of a very quick end to the race, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo once again climbs onto the third step of the podium, three weeks after that of the Indian Grand Prix. The Yamaha rider said to himself “frustrated” because he is aware that he has not come far from achieving a first victory since that of June 2022 at the German GP. The other Habs in the running, Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac) experienced a nightmarish Grand Prix: dead last, with a machine much slower than his competitors, he fell before the end of the 27 laps.
