A stunning evening. Like Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund qualified for the last four of the Champions League by winning the return match (4-2) on Tuesday April 16, after losing on the pitch to Atlético de Madrid last week (1-2). The Borussen overturned a crazy match in front of their home crowd and reached the semi-finals of the C1 for the first time since 2013, when they failed in the final against Bayern Munich (1-2) at Wembley.

The 81,365 spectators at the Westfalenstadion went through all the emotions on Tuesday evening. A euphoric first period, at first, as the BVB quickly dominated the proceedings to lead 2-0 at the break thanks to Julian Brandt and Ian Maatsen. Atlético gave up the ball, relying on Oblak’s saves to avoid sinking.

But the return from the locker room turned into a nightmare, when Diego Simeone’s players restarted the game thanks to three changes made at half-time, first on an own goal from Mats Hummels then on a goal from Joaquin Correa, starter who thought he would qualify his club on the hour mark.

This was without counting the fury of the Borussen, carried by the legendary yellow wall of the Westfalenstadion to overthrow, once again, this double confrontation: Niclas Füllkrug, then Marcel Sabitzer, offered a victory by two goals to the yellow and black people, synonymous with qualification for the semi-finals. They will meet Paris Saint-Germain, already faced in the group stage, for a German defeat (0-2) and a draw (1-1).
