Donna Summer’s estate sues Kanye West

Disco legend Donna Summer’s estate is suing Kanye West. She criticizes the rapper, also known as Ye, for using excerpts from the song I Feel Love on his new album.

According to the suit, Donna Summer’s estate denied Kanye West and singer Ty Dolla $ign the use of the song released in 1977. Despite this refusal, the duo “shamelessly used instantly recognizable parts of the song by Summer, I Feel Loveon [son] recently released collaborative album, Cultures 1, and during recorded concerts. The song targeted by the lawsuit is Good (Don’t Die).

In the document filed before the American court, the suit asserts that the fight it is waging is not only to obtain financial compensation. “This is about protecting Donna Summer’s musical legacy and one of the most influential and revolutionary songs in popular music,” it reads.

Earlier this month, Ozzy Osbourne also decried the fact that Kayne West and Ty Dolla $ign had used a sample of a song by his group Black Sabbath without permission on the same album released on February 10.
