Doncic scores 73 points and Mavericks beat Hawks 148-143

(Atlanta) Luka Doncic set a team record with 73 points, tied for fourth in NBA history for most points scored in a game by a player, and the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Atlanta Hawks 148-143, Friday.


Doncic thus improved his old mark by 60 points. He also set a team record by scoring 41 points in the first half.

His record comes four days after Joel Embiid scored 70 points for the 76ers of Philadelphia, also a team record. It was a season high before Doncic’s 73 points on Friday.

Trae Young led the Hawks with 30 points. Jalen Johnson scored 25 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic added 24.

Doncic scored 23 points in the second quarter, after scoring 18 in the first.
