Donald Trump promised on Tuesday to “steal jobs from other countries” if he were re-elected, through tax cuts and “very high” customs duties.
“For years, we have watched our jobs being stolen by other countries,” the Republican candidate for the White House denounced during a campaign rally.
“But now we’re going to take their jobs and bring them back to America, where they belong,” he told supporters gathered in the US state of Georgia.
To do this, Donald Trump, who had placed his presidency (2017-2021) under the banner of “America first”, committed to creating special economic zones on federal lands “with very low taxes and regulations”.
“I will give you the lowest taxes, the lowest energy costs, the lowest regulatory burden,” the 78-year-old billionaire said from Savannah.
Conversely, the former president claimed that manufacturers would pay “very high” tariffs if they did not make their products in the United States.
“I want German car companies to become American,” the presidential candidate declared on November 5. “We are going to steal jobs from other countries, we are going to steal their factories,” he listed.
Donald Trump, neck and neck in the polls with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, assured that the “horrible nightmare” of American workers “will end the day that [il] will take the oath.”
“I want General Electric, IBM and all the other industrialists who left us to be eaten up with remorse and come running back to our soil.”
The septuagenarian also painted a very dark picture of a Harris presidency, assuring that businesses would “flee”, particularly because of his program to fight against global warming.
The US state of Georgia, from which he spoke, is one of the most contested for the presidential election in November.
