Donald Trump continues to dig his furrow. The former US president is trying to consolidate his grip on the Republican Party ahead of the November legislative elections. He went to Alaska on Saturday July 9 to support Sarah Palin, a figure of American populism.

This Christian curator from The 58-year-old is running for Alaska’s only seat in the US House of Representatives. The position has been vacant since the sudden death of Republican Don Young, who held it for forty-nine years.

Unsurprisingly, Donald Trump has further maintained the mystery of his candidacy in 2024, hammering home his conspiracy theory of a victory stolen by Joe Biden in the last presidential election. “The election was rigged, stolen, and our country is now being systematically destroyed. I was a candidate twice, I won twice”he launched from the stand installed in a stadium in Anchorage. “And now…I might have to do it again.”

Sarah Palin has played a key role in the populist turn of the Republican Party over the past decade. Former Governor of Alaska suddenly found herself in the spotlight when she was chosen by Republican presidential candidate John McCain as his running mate in the 2008 election.
