We are in 2020 and Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc around the world, particularly in the United States. AlWhen his country was sorely lacking, Donald Trump secretly sent screening tests… to Vladimir Putin. This is one of the revelations in the new book by American journalist Bob Woodward. In War, to be published on October 15, the one who revealed the Watergate scandal also assures that the billionaire, who was then in the White House, maintained a personal relationship with Vladimir Putin, despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

According to the account of the American media which had access to the work, Vladimir Putin received the anti-Covid tests and urged Donald Trump not to say anything: “I don’t want you to tell anyone, people will be angry with you, not me.”the Russian president allegedly told him.

According to an anonymous adviser, Donald Trump has spoken to Vladimir Putin in secret up to seven times since he left the White House in 2021. In early 2024, he asked an aide to leave his office in Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, to have a telephone conversation with the Russian president.

“None of these fabricated stories by Bob Woodward are true, this is the work of a truly insane and unbalanced man”reacted in a statement Steven Cheung, one of the spokespersons for the Republican presidential candidate, affirming that the book “could be used as toilet paper”.

Kamala Harris expressed her indignation. “Everyone in America was struggling to get kits…and this guy is sending them to Russia, to a murderous dictator, for his personal use? asks the Democratic candidate. This is just the latest and greatest example of who Trump is.”

US President Joe Biden also reacted during an event in Pennsylvania on Tuesday evening. He denounced the management “shameful” of the pandemic by Donald Trump. “More than a million people died but guess what? (…) He called his friend Putin, this is not a joke, and made sure that he had tests” while the United States lacked it.

These revelations once again shine the spotlight on the relationship established by Donald Trump with Russia. They risk reinforcing fears for the fate of Ukraine in the event of the Republican’s return to the White House.
