A few months before the American presidential election, France Télévisions wanted to return to the storming of the Capitol and its consequences through a report for “Complément d’enquête”.

Nearly four years after the storming of the Capitol, France Télévisions went to meet the rioters who carried out the attack on Washington on January 6, 2021, and the victims of this insurrection. In this case, “Donald Trump is charged with conspiracy against the United States of America, one of the most serious charges for the former president”explains Louis-Milano Dupont, one of the journalists who wrote the report on the subject for Complément d’enquête.

“He is accused of having put pressure on elected officials, civil servants, of having lied to the Americans on numerous occasions, and of having fomented an institutional conspiracy.”summarizes Louis-Milano Dupont. “There will be no trial before the election, there may never be a trial if Donald Trump is elected”he adds. His meeting with Aquilino Gonell, a police officer on the front lines during the assault on the Capitol, particularly marked him. “He suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and was forced to resign.”explains Louis-Milano Dupont.
