A delicate interview, given the Republican’s multiple criticisms of massive American aid to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is due to meet former American President and White House candidate Donald Trump on Friday September 27 in New York. “As you know, Zelensky asked to meet me. I will meet him tomorrow morning around 9:45 a.m. [15h45 à Paris] at Trump Tower”announced Donald Trump.

This comes amid great concern for American aid in the event of Donald Trump’s victory in the election on November 5. Last week, the Ukrainian presidency announced that Volodymyr Zelensky planned to meet the former president during his visit to the United States. But this interview was put on hold, according to the American press, the Republican not having appreciated an interview given by the Ukrainian leader to the magazine New Yorkerin which he asserts that the Republican candidate “don’t really know how to stop this war”. Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that if re-elected, he would resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine “in 24 hours”, without ever explaining how. “I think I will be able to quickly conclude an agreement between President Putin and President Zelensky”he repeated again on Thursday. The day before, the Republican had directly attacked the Ukrainian leader, accusing him of “refuse to make a deal” with Moscow.

Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive at this meeting assured of the support of the current administration. There “Russia will not win”indeed launched Joe Biden on Thursday from the Oval Office. In order to“help Ukraine win this war”he had announced a little earlier a “increased security assistance”, but without the green light hoped for by kyiv to fire long-range missiles manufactured in the United States towards Russia. “My support for the Ukrainian people is unwavering”said for her part the vice-president and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, during a meeting with the Ukrainian president.
