Donald Trump again heard by justice in New York in a case of financial fraud

A week after his historic indictment for “accounting falsification”, Donald Trump is once again facing justice. The former American president was heard on Thursday, April 13, in New York in the context of a future civil trial for which he is accused of fraud within the Trump Organization. The Republican billionaire, who intends to win back the White House in 2024, responded under oath and out of sight in the offices of New York State Attorney General Letitia James.

Donald Trump and his children are suspected of a “staggering fraud”according to the Attorney General, having “deliberately” manipulated the valuations of the group’s assets to obtain more advantageous loans from the banks or to reduce its taxes. In this investigation, Letitia James claims $250 million in damages on behalf of the state, as well as bans from running companies for the ex-president and his relatives.

Hearings under oath and in camera may take place as part of the procedure, before the actual start of the trial, currently set for October. Donald Trump has always refuted these irregularities. On his Truth Social network, he called the case a “ridiculous”, “like all the other cases of electoral interference of which I am the subject”.
