Dominique Tapie reveals that he attempted suicide after a visit from bailiffs

She has been a widow since October 3, 2021, and the disappearance of her famous husband, businessman Bernard Tapie, following cancer. And Dominique Tapie’s life is far from being a long, quiet river. At 73, her husband’s debts are now falling on her. And while taxes are now asking for 15 million euros (not including interest), here is how Sophie Tapie’s mother first reacted to the terrible news…

I was so tired I couldn’t sleep

In the Jordan de Luxe show, on C8, which will be broadcast on March 11, 2024, Dominique Tapie reveals that she attempted suicide with medication following the arrival of the bailiffs at her home… She remembers: “At one point, when I found myself at the Holy Father, and we were taking everything, weighing everything, how much it was going to cost, how much we were going to sell. Well I don’t care about the equipment, but above all I didn’t know where to go. This is where Jean-Louis (Borloo) was extraordinary. And I was fed up, from morning to evening I had auctioneers going through everything. I had my dogs, I didn’t know what to do, there was one I couldn’t keep.”.

And added: “I was so tired that I couldn’t sleep. And there I was angry with Bernard. I was angry with him for finding me in this situation. Well, I held on, but I wanted to sleep, to stop thinking. There’s a moment when you’re so overwhelmed by the information, you say to yourself… Yes, this is the first time in my life that I’ve taken pills to sleep.”

Especially since the widow maintains: “It’s not me who owes the debts, it was my husband. Why is the wife responsible for her husband’s debts? That’s not normal. We are still governed by the Napoleonic Code. So Joséphine did something stupid but we’re still paying for it.”

“And everything will go like this…”

She also deplores: “The 15 million you realize are from taxes from 1989, 1990, that’s 35 or 40 and they come to claim me. I never took care of it.” Dominique Tapie assures that faced with this situation, she believes: “But that can’t scare me, because I’m not solvent. There are still things to sell. I had a small apartment that I inherited at the age of 25 from my grandmother, Bernard had nothing to see, we were not married. In this apartment, I housed my maternal grandmother, and well it was sold to me 6 months ago. And everything will go like that…”

To conclude, Dominique Tapie assures about her late husband that she does not hold a grudge against him. She also explains: “He did the best he could, he wanted to impress me“.
