Dominique Tapie furious against the Netflix series on the life of her husband produced without her approval and where Laurent Lafitte embodies the businessman

Very discreet in the media for many years, Dominique Tapie frequents all the sets today. A year and a half after the death of her husband, the famous businessman Bernard Tapie, died of cancer at the age of 78, on October 3, 2021, his widow released a book. A tribute book titled Bernard, the fury of living (L’Observatoire), where she shares her 52 years together with the tycoon. On Sunday March 19, 2023, she offered the first of her confessions to Audrey Crespo-Mara for the “Portrait of the week” of the show seven to eight on TF1. An exclusive and moving interview in which Dominique Tapie did not hide anything from the painful last days of her husband nor from her big current and personal financial problems, since she is still being prosecuted for a debt of 647 million euros who forced her to leave their private mansion located at 52 rue des Saints-Pères in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Nor on the violent attack they had suffered in their house in Seine-et-Marne, on the night of April 3 to 4, 2021, a few months before the death of the businessman. Violated and tied up, they thought they would lose their lives there.

“Borrowing my name is a bit heavy”

This Sunday, March 26, 2023, Dominique Tapie was the guest of Mohamed Bouhafsi as part of his show Focus Sunday on RTL. Once again, she spoke bluntly about her past life alongside her husband, about the rumors of money hidden in a tax haven and about the powerful ties that united Marseille supporters to Bernard Tapie. But it was also an opportunity for the one who is also a columnist on the show C to you on France 5 to ask her what she thought of the Netflix series dedicated to the life of her husband and which should be released on the platform at the end of the year. Facing his guest, the journalist lets go:“I think that annoys you…” And Dominique Tapie responds immediately: “Yeah ! The person who made this series came to see Bernard and he told him ‘No, if someone should tell my story, it will be my son Laurent‘. And here it is… No comment”, she replied, visibly annoyed. And indeed, the businessman had declined any creation on his story, unless the latter came from his own clan. The newspaper Var Morningthe former Minister of the City had clearly expressed his dissatisfaction with this series where Laurent Lafitte plays his role: “Doing it without asking me for my agreement in principle is not very good. There are things we don’t do. That there are documentaries is something else, but borrowing my name is a bit heavy”. declared Bernard Tapie, only a few months before his disappearance. But the producers and designers of this series of 7 episodes, Tristan Séguéla and Olivier Demangel, did not take into account the opinion of the principal concerned. Entitled wonder man this biopic is above all their “look at its trajectory”, as they confided to FirstJune 18, 2021. For the time being, no broadcast date has yet been issued.
