Dominique Pelicot, the main accused in the Mazan rape trial, is expected to return to court on Tuesday, September 16, after an absence of more than a week due to his health. “We received a message from the president [de la cour] arguing that Dominique Pelicot will be present at the hearing [mardi] with special adaptation conditions, namely: sequencing of auditions and regular rest time”, said Beatrice Zavarro. Asked whether her client could be heard, she could not be more specific at this stage. “Will the president start with him or will he start with the lady and her children? I have no idea. But in any case, he will be there.”she detailed.

On Monday morning, the president of the Vaucluse criminal court could only note, once again, the absence of the accused. Roger Arata then ordered a medical assessment to take stock of the septuagenarian’s health. Dominique Pelicot’s lawyer, for her part, stated that he had “a clot in the bladder” And “a kidney infection”. She also has denounced all weekend, in several media outlets, the failings of the prison administration regarding its care of his client. If the health of the main accused deteriorates again by Tuesday morning, the suspension of the hearing, or even the postponement of the trial until 2025, remain possible scenarios.
