This is very sad news, Dominique Borg died at the age of 76, Sunday July 17, 2022, as Kamel Ouali announced on social networks. If her name is not always known to the general public, this lady had an incredible career and was rewarded several times.
Daughter of the artist Anne Béranger, she inherited her taste for the theater and began working at the age of 17. Dominique Borg has worked with the greatest directors: Denis Llorca, Jean-Louis Barrault, Marcel Maréchal, Éric-Gaston Lorvoire among others. In the cinema too the greatest have called on her since she has collaborated with Claude Lelouch (Men, women, manuals, Les Miserables), Pierre-Henry Salfaty (Tolerance). She has also received two Césars for the costumes she invents for the film. Camille Claudel by Bruno Nuytten in 1989 with Isabelle Adjani and Gérard Depardieu and The Pact of the Wolves by Christophe Gans in 2002. She also obtained two Molières, in 1991 for the costumes of The Cherry Orchard by Chekhov directed by Jacques Rosny and in 1997 for those of Libertine by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt directed by Bernard Murat.
Dominique Borg has created costumes for many productions at the opera, for tours or musicals and has collaborated for dance with Anne Béranger, Varolyn Carlson, Motko Sparemblek, Nicole Chirpaz and Maurice Béjart. She also revealed her talents for the Mylenium Tower by Mylène Farmer, the shows Romeo and Juliet, from hate to love, The Demoiselles de Rochefort, The sun King, Cleopatra or Dracula, love stronger than death.
