Picard quickly became a coach after hanging up his cleats in 2016. Before joining the group of coaches led by Mathieu Lecompte in Estrie, he worked as head coach of the Élans du Cégep Garneau.

“It is with great enthusiasm that I join Vert & Or,” Picard said in a statement. The difficult part of this exciting transition is announcing my departure to my players, as we have forged an exceptional relationship over the years. I will always have priceless memories of my time with the Elans de Garneau, but I look forward to working within the passionate team and elite culture of Vert & Or.”

Picard played for Université Laval’s Rouge et Or from 2002 to 2005, winning two Vanier Cups in four seasons. He played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan Roughriders, including winning the Gray Cup with them in 2013.
