Dominic Paquet sues his former manager for $50,000

Dominic Paquet is not laughing. The comedian has just sued his former manager, Sébastien Roy, for more than $50,000 regarding royalties surrounding the recording of his first show, we have learned The newspaper. The company ComediHa! is also targeted by the lawsuit.

According to the suit, the dispute is over the recording of the comedian’s show, entitled Dominic Paquet, which took place in January 2010. The recording was produced by ComediHa! Inc.

After ceasing to be represented by Sébastien Roy in 2014, Dominic Paquet continued to work with the Entourage Group. It was during a discussion with the executives of Entourage, in 2018, that the comedian and his company realized that there was a problem with the royalties from his first show.

At that time, Dominic Paquet believed that his former manager and his company, Fou du Roy, had agreed with Entourage to pay them any royalties. For its part, Entourage believed that the comedian himself directly received the said royalties.

When he noticed during the pandemic that his first show was broadcast on Prize 2, and that new royalties would be paid without his knowledge, Dominic Paquet decided to act.

“Bad faith”

In his suit, the comedian is demanding from Sébastien Roy and Fou du Roy the sum of $25,125.72 “unless it is completed, for the sums that Dominic did not receive from Sébastien and Fou du Roy and from ComediHa for the show.”

Dominic Paquet also asks Sébastien and Fou du Roy for the sum of an additional $25,000 “representing the fees of Me Yves Pépin caused by their multiple faults and especially by their bad faith. »

The comedian requests “from Sébastien and Fou du Roy the retrocession of all rights for the Show”. He also asks the court to order ComediHa to stop paying Sébastien Roy and Fou du Roy “all royalties being due for the Show”.

Contacted by The newspaper, Dominic Paquet’s team at Entourage has indicated that the comedian will not make any comments “given that the case is being taken to court.” ComediHa! did not return our messages.
