Franck Haise’s players delivered a convincing performance on Wednesday, but lacked the cutting edge to take the three points, notably missing a penalty (1-1).

A week without the Champions League does not necessarily mean an absence of European competition. The Europa League resumed its rights on Wednesday, September 25, during an evening that saw the entry into the competition of OGC Nice. In their Allianz Riviera, the Aiglons dominated, but did not manage to get the better of Real Sociedad, settling for a draw (1-1) that will leave regrets.
Surprised at the start of the match by Ander Barrenetxea, who scored a powerful first-time strike after a mistake by Pablo Rosario (18th), Franck Haise’s players left no room for complacency. By maintaining the pressure, they were rewarded just before the break with a goal in the form of redemption from Pablo Rosario, who was also an opportunist after a missed clearance from the Basque defence (45th).
Once the equalizer was achieved, Nice’s domination continued. Continuing their momentum, the Aiglons thought they had finally taken control of the match just after the break. A gross foul by Jon Pacheco, who grabbed Dante’s jersey on a corner, gave Evann Guessand a penalty via a VAR intervention, but the Nice striker came up against Alex Remiro, who was well on his right (55th).
Five days after the 8-0 inflicted on Saint-Etienne, Nice lacked a little madness and relevance in its offensive choices. At the end of the match, the most obvious opportunity remained a very powerful long-range shot from Youssouf Ndayishimiye (84th), but Remiro was still present on his line. The next European meeting for the Gym is scheduled in a week, on October 3, away to Rome to play Lazio.
