Savennières is undoubtedly one of the most qualitative appellations of the Loire. La Roche aux Moines is one of its best terroirs (along with La Coulée de Serrant, these are the two crus of the appellation). And Tessa Laroche, following in her mother’s footsteps at the head of the estate, is a very talented winemaker.
Coming from a warm vintage, the 2018 nevertheless shows great freshness. Old Chenin vines and biodynamic cultivation certainly play their part. The aromas unfold around yellow apple and quince, with notes of white flowers, almond and a mineral impression. The mouth offers a rich and suave substance, carried by a great freshness and a long sapid finish, punctuated by noble bitters. Complex, deep and slender, it exudes an undeniable sensation of purity. A great gift for wine lovers and an ideal candidate for the cellar.
