Leylah Fernandez was unable to reach the main draw of the Doha tournament, being defeated in the final stage of qualifying, while fellow Canadian Rebecca Marino secured her ticket on Monday.

The Quebecer did not inherit an easy course, she who crossed the favorite of the qualifying phase, Karolina Pliskova, in her third match.
The Czech beat her in two sets of 6-2 and 7-5.
Fernandez struggled in the second set after being neutralized in the first half. She offered herself six break points, but only took advantage of one of them.
