“Document”, Patch | The duty

How good it is to dive into Document, second album by Montreal kraut-pop-rock quintet Patche! It is indeed progress that we hear in the sinuous thread of these ten new original compositions appearing barely more than a year after the first album: at its recording beginnings, we felt the young group was still too close to its influences German kosmische rock. Today, he is having fun, inventing his own psychedelic voice (playful and delirious on the title track, at the start of the album), saturating his grooves timbres and sound textures giving an almost childish energy to pieces like Exactly, that’s it and the amazing Have a good tripeight long and progressive minutes of a groove tempered (the deployment of the bass melody is delightful!) during which soft harmonies and abrasive guitar and synth sounds collide. Bubbly, noisy, sometimes a little more angry (Other, Wilhelm), Patche has found what makes it unique. To be seen on July 3, on an outdoor stage of the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
