It’s time for concern in vocational high schools. During the interprofessional strike day on Tuesday, October 18, 22.94% of teachers in the sector got involved, according to the Ministry of National Education, 60% according to the unions. Most vocational teachers’ unions have called for another strike day on 17 November. They dispute the reform that Emmanuel Macron presented in September.

The Head of State wishes in particular to increase the duration of internships for vocational high school students by at least 50%, which would in fact reduce the hours of general education. A measure at the heart of the concerns of the project’s detractors, who fear that the students will become “workforce”. They are also worried about the announced intention of “deep transformation” of the professional path, which could involve the closure of certain specialized sectors “which no longer correspond to the needs”according to Emmanuel Macron.
