At the initiative of DJ and producer Michael Canitrot, the Monumental Tower is a concept of tour combining electro, history and architecture. A unique show for a unique place, combining music and giant video mapping retracing the history of the monument visited. After the Château de Vincennes, the Phare des Baleines de l’Île de Ré, the Automobile Museum of Mulhouse and the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, the DJ and his team have taken over the magnificent Château de Pierrefonds in the ‘Oise.
“Since I was little, I have had the chance thanks to my parents to visit a lot of castles, and suddenly I became passionate about history, architecture; and I wanted to make these two passions coexist and at the same time convey a message, which is to promote heritage from a new angle and to continue to democratize electronic music“, explains Michael Canitrot.
For these shows, as for the others, Michael Canitrot surrounded himself with a collective of architects and designers to create this giant tailor-made mapping also retracing the history of this fortified castle built at the end of the 14th century, in part destroyed, then rebuilt under the Second Empire by the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, at the request of Napoleon III. “This reinvention is a permanent reinvention. And there is no limit to this artistic reinvention as long as it speaks to audiences, and these audiences are indeed those of today. So there are no brutal contrasts, on the contrary we are in a permanent and continuous artistic dialogue in Pierrefonds.“, explains Xavier Bailly, the administrator of the castle.
To ensure the first parts, the DJ invites young talents of the electro like here Sam Koxx and Tolvy. Captured for distribution on social networks, the Monumental Tower is also the occasion for Michael Canitrot to pass another message on the necessary preservation of our monuments, our heritage, which make the wealth of France: “We will be setting up donations for this event, people will be able to participate when they go to watch the show online. Since we are lucky to have these places, let’s make sure to preserve them to pass them on to future generations and that it ultimately continues to inspire artists as well.“.
To discover this last concert of Monumental Tower, we will have to wait until December 19 on Michael Canitrot’s social networks. In the meantime, you can enjoy the previous shows in Vincennes, on the Ile de Ré and at Mont-Saint-Michel which have largely exceeded one million views.
