DIX30 from Brossard | Police investigate arson at restaurant-bar

(Brossard) Police have opened an investigation following an arson that occurred during the night of Monday to Tuesday in a restaurant-bar in Quartier DIX30, in Brossard.

Emergency services were called around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday to the Mile Public House in Quartier DIX30 due to an outbreak of fire.

The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters and did not spread, but the police will still look into this incident.

“Traces of break-in and the place of origin of the fire lead our police officers to consider the event as being of a criminal nature,” said agent François Boucher, who is spokesperson for the Police Department of the agglomeration of Longueuil (SPAL).

No one was injured as a result of the fire and no arrests had been made as of early Tuesday morning. However, SPAL is carrying out checks to determine if any vehicles or suspects have been seen in the area.

A security perimeter was set up to allow the investigation to continue.
