Direction Touho, in New Caledonia, a diving resort that is home to dozens of rays. Time seems suspended.

Admiring the aquatic ballet of manta rays is every diver’s dream. In Touho, New Caledonia, the weather is gray and rainy today. Not enough to deter four enthusiasts. They go to a confidential spot, only 200 meters wide. Underwater, manta rays are numerous. “It’s a cleaning station, so it’s small coral reefs that attract wrasse fish. As a result, manta rays approach it to be cleaned of the parasites they have”explains Sébastien Beau, president of the association “Tu Koohnê plunge?”.

A curious animal

The majestic mantas quickly spread their wings. “It’s a site that is difficult to dive, because the weather conditions are quite complicated”, comments Adrien Pellequer, member of the “Tu Koohnê plunge?” association. The visitors of the day are seduced by this unforgettable moment of sharing. “It’s an animal that is very curious, so indeed, we manage to have a fairly authentic relationship with them”rejoices one of them.
