(Windsor) Diver Kate Miller has earned a second quota spot in the women’s individual 10m platform event at the Paris Olympic Games, Diving Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee announced Thursday.
Miller, who hails from Ottawa, will compete in the individual event alongside fellow Albertan Caeli McKay. The Ontarian earned the spot by finishing second at the Canadian Diving Trials in Windsor, Ont., in early May.
“I’m so excited. I’m nervous, but mostly excited. This will be my first Olympics and I can’t wait to see what it’s like,” said Miller, noting she learned the news from Diving Canada’s chief technical director Mitch Geller while training with her teammates at the pool.
Miller, who is 19, had already qualified for the Paris Olympics in the women’s 10m synchro platform, along with McKay.
Diving Canada will also be represented in Paris by Quebecer Nathan Zsombor-Murray (10m, 10m synchro) as well as Albertans Rylan Wiens (10m, 10m synchro) and Margo Erlam (3m).
