This is the official start of the work between the Flaubert Bridge and the South III expressway. In recent months, the first facilities have been created. On the other hand, from the beginning of October, motorists will be affected by the works in the coming months. The first phase of the work should make it possible to create an exit ramp to the future Rouen Flaubert eco-district.
As a result of this first project, which should last 4 months, traffic on the bridge will be modified. We are now going from a 3*3 lane to a 2*2 lane. Only trucks will be allowed to drive on the North-South side of the road on the only open lane. Light vehicles will be deported, before the bridge, on the other roadway, just next to the vehicles going up the bridge from the Madagascar crossroads.
From 70 to 50 km/h on the Flaubert bridge
To secure the work on the bridge, the speed will be lowered. From 70 we will go to 50 km / h. According to the direction of the roads, the flow of cars should be absorbed, this speed is that of the rush hour. Every day, approximately 50,000 vehicles use the bridge.
In the event of an accident or breakdown, the difficulties could be significant because there is no longer an emergency lane. Another ramp, entry this time, will be created later in the South-North direction.
For the rest of the work and the creation of the famous viaduct towards the South III expressway, it will be necessary to wait until the end of the Armada in June 2023. The work should be delivered by the end of 2025.
