Farmers’ anger: dissonance within agricultural unions
Anger of farmers: dissonance within agricultural unions – (France info)
In this agricultural crisis, five unions are making themselves heard with different demands. The disparities between departments and sometimes regions are of concern.
The National Federation of Farmers’ Unions (FNSEA), Young Farmers, Rural Coordination, the Peasant Confederation and the Family Farmers’ Movement: five unions and different demands. At the head of the negotiations, the first union in France: the FNSEA. They demand immediate payment of CAP aid, administrative simplification and compensation for avian flu. Alongside them, the Young Farmers who have joined the FNSEA’s list of demands but who insist on better access to land for young farmers.
Put pressure on the government
More radical, Rural Coordination. If it shares the demands of the FNSEA, it is the mode of action that differs for this union, such as punch actions in front of prefectures or supermarkets. Further to the left, the Peasant Confederation. She opposes everything the other unions ask for and above all wants the end of free trade and a law to protect production cuts. Finally, the Movement for the Defense of Family Farmers is mainly calling for fairer remuneration for farmers. All these organizations have the same goal: to put pressure on the executive after announcements deemed unsatisfactory.
