SNCF traffic remains disrupted in Isère and the Loire on Friday March 29, due to strong winds which caused trees to fall on the rails. The departments of Rhône and Loire are placed on orange “wind” vigilance by Météo France.

Disturbances in Isère

In Isère, train traffic resumed between Lyon and Grenoble shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday but there are still disruptions on the rail and roads in the department, France Bleu Isère has learned. The line between Grenoble and Chambéry is still interrupted after the fall of a tree in Pontcharra.

The wind also caused the downing of high voltage lines. Several departmental roads are cut at Chasse-sur-Rhône (D4), at Champagnier (D64) towards Échirolles. The D49 is also cut near Entre-deux-Guiers, but because of a risk of a roof collapsing.

Significant delays in the Loire

In the Loire, trees also fell on the tracks. TER traffic is severely disrupted. The Saint-Étienne-Lyon Perrache and Saint-Étienne-Montbrison lines are experiencing numerous delays and trains are being canceled. On its social networks, the SNCF announces that at least two trees fell on the tracks, one in Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert, in the Loire, the other in Vernaison, in the Rhône, preventing TER trains from circulating .
