Disney too “woke”? A conservative outlet will offer its own content to children

The American media Daily Wire announced Wednesday an investment of at least 100 million dollars over three years to create conservative content to compete with the number 1 entertainment company in the world, Disney, considered too “woke”.

Co-founder Jeremy Boreing, also nicknamed “god-king” within his media, indicated in an article published on his site on this subject that “ [les Américains] are tired of giving their money to “woke” media who want to indoctrinate their children with radical theories about race and gender. »

This is why the Daily Wire will see the birth of a new component called DW Kids next year where animated shows will be offered as much as live and where LGBTQ + content will be absent. It will be a distribution platform accessible to subscribers of the American media.

The project was discussed a little over a week ago in the podcast of the second co-founder of the media, the ultraconservative Ben Shapiro. The latter had indicated that the company, which he once loved, had become political, with homosexual characters who even went so far as to kiss each other. Disney “was held hostage by the ‘wokes'”. He then addressed the idea of ​​counter-programming for the well-being of children, without adding details.

The children’s component initiative was originally scheduled to see the light of day in November 2022, but the two men felt that Disney’s recent stance on the controversial “Don’t Say Gay” law deserved a faster public announcement.

The legislation, passed on Monday, now prohibits the teaching of sexual orientation or gender identity to students in kindergarten through third grade in Florida.

Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Chapek first told employees that the company’s stories were “more powerful than any tweets or lobbying efforts.”

Rather, the memo generated great pressure from employees who deemed it insufficient, following which the CEO backtracked, condemning the law and ceasing all political donations in Florida, home to the largest company theme park. The company, which claims to be an ally of the LGBTQ + community, has nevertheless been criticized for its long silence.

Between media and shaving society

This is not the first time that the Daily Wire has competed with a company with differing political views. And according to them, it will not be the last.

Earlier this month, Daily Wire launched shaving company Jeremy’s Razors in revenge on Harry’s Company, a former advertiser. This company ended its collaboration with the Daily Wire when one of its hosts made “inexcusable” comments about LGBTQ+ people.

In response to this withdrawal, the Daily Wire created its own shaving company in the name of one of its executives. One of the addresses referring to the new company’s site is “ihateharrys.com”.

Boreing said Wednesday, in connection with these two new companies with distinct goals: “We will be here waiting. We will challenge them in trade. […] The Americans have been waiting for these alternatives, and we will give them. »
