Disney Releases Images of New ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’ Remake

On the occasion of CinemaCon, which is currently being held in Las Vegas, the group also presented “Elementary”, a new Pixa cartoon on Thursday.

New clips for two highly anticipated films. Disney unveiled Wednesday, April 26 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas (Nevada) new images ofIndianaJones and of The little Mermaid. In the case of the famous archaeologist, Disney broadcast a thrilling chase through the alleys of Tangier, Morocco.

Embodying the adventurer for more than forty years “meant a lot to me”, explained in a video message Harrison Ford. At 80, the actor finds his hat and his whip in this fifth installment entitled The Dial of Destiny.

“These films are full of adventure, heart“, continued the actor, who will present the new version of “Indy” at the Cannes festival in May before a summer release on the big screen. In this new opus, actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays the goddaughter of Indiana Jones, who does not hesitate to upset the archaeologist by calling him a “aging grave robber”.

The new pictures of The little Mermaid, for which he chose live action rather than cartoons, notably show the sea witch Ursula, played by Melissa McCarthy, manipulating the heroine Ariel. She is played by African-American actress Halle Bailey, so that she agrees to take human form for three days, as part of a diabolical bargain. “She’s attractive, she’s a dishonest chick. Maybe that’s why I identify with her,” explained Melissa McCarthy, the only actress present on stage for the entire Disney presentation.

Besides these two blockbusters, the group discussed a new science fiction film in which humans fight against an artificial intelligence in a post-apocalyptic future. Renamed The Creator, this feature film which should be released in September benefits from a “timing very timely,” according to Disney, at a time when the capabilities of software like ChatGPT and Midjourney are generating widespread public debate around artificial intelligence.

The group also presented Elementarya new Pixar cartoon, a new adventure by detective Hercule Poirot titled At Haunting in Venice, And The Haunted Mansiona fantasy film starring Owen Wilson.

On the side of its Marvel superheroes, the group must release the third part of the Guardians of the Galaxy in May and The Marvels in November.

Finally, the same month, Wish will mark Disney’s 100th anniversary with “an original animated musical adventure inspired by the classics”.

The film stars Ariana DeBose as a young woman who lives in a magical kingdom “just off the Iberian Peninsula”, Or “Wishes do come true”.

CinemaCon runs through Thursday in Las Vegas.
