To weaken Russia, Europe has applied economic sanctions for two years. A French company made it possible to circumvent the embargo by exporting products to Russia.
That day, customs officers searched the premises of an SME in Seine-Saint-Denis, suspected of having sent hundreds of goods to Russia with false declarations. After 11 months of investigation, they discovered a vast network. “What surprised us was the scale of the business, his ability to always find new clients (…) and the few scruples he had in doing so”confides Nicolas, customs inspector.
A turnkey service was provided to other companies to circumvent the embargo against Russia. Investigators discovered cars from Germany, trucks from Spain, and wheels from Ireland. Each time, the French forwarder provided the documents for customs, with a false destination. In Latvia, once the border of Europe was crossed by truck, the goods disappeared in Russia. These exports would represent tens of millions of euros.
