“Discussions are progressing with the Minister of Agriculture, with the Prime Minister, but the conditions to emerge from the crisis are not met”, estimates Hervé Lapie, secretary general of the FNSEA and president of the FDSEA Marne, on franceinfo Sunday March 17. After the opening of the Agricultural Show, Emmanuel Macron arranged to meet with farmers’ organizations “in three weeks”. A meeting planned at the Élysée on Tuesday was “postponed”announced Saturday evening the president of the FNSEA Arnaud Rousseau.

“There is a gap between the declarations made today in France by our political representatives and the actions on our farms”underlines Hervé Lapie, who nevertheless notes “progress on certain issues”. Of the approximately 120 measures carried out by the FNSEA and Young Farmers network, the government retained 62. “We have made progress on labor, taking into account part of the costs linked to casual workers, on fallow land, on taxation, on GNR”explains the union official.

“In Europe, we have the impression that things are going much faster” than at the French level, explains the secretary general of the FNSEA. The European Commission proposed on Friday to relax the rules of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) on environmental standards such as fallows, hedges and even crop rotation. “The progress this week has been particularly interesting”greets Hervé Lapie.
