He is the king of Canebière. Since the beginning of December, a twelve-meter-high fir tree has been lighting up the Old Port of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) and attracting all eyes. Its lights immerse residents and tourists in the festive atmosphere. THE illuminations are made in Provence, in Apt (Vaucluse). In 50 years, the family business has become the French leader in the sector.
Appropriate the illuminations
In the showroom, it’s Christmas all year round. “We have more and more interactive settings, because people want to appropriate the illuminations“, explains Johan Hugues, co-general manager of Blachere Illumination. The sets are entirely designed on site. From the ironwork to create the structure to the wiring to attach the lights, around a hundred employees work meticulously in the workshops. To build 60,000 pieces per year, the company uses material from recycled plastic bottles.
