On his somewhat unusual farm, a farmer has undoubtedly found a solution for the future in the face of rising bills. Its operation is self-sufficient in electricity and energy. For the sale of his products, the farmer does not go through any intermediary.

A whole farm with solar energy. Specializing in the production of cereals and livestock, the Terray farm operates without being connected to the electricity network. “So here we have about forty photovoltaic panels which are on concrete pads and provide us with all the energy for operation”, underlines the owner of the premises. Solar panels generate electricity all year round and power building heating, lighting and machine operation. Batteries also make it possible to store the surplus for periods without sun.

Energy and commercial autonomy

Before settling in Ain, breeders quickly made the calculations. The site is isolated and connecting to the electricity grid would have cost 80,000 euros, while this self-sufficient energy installation cost them 65,000 euros. “It’s a satisfaction to tell yourself that you don’t pay for electricity”, underlines an operator. In addition to its energy autonomy, the farm can also boast of its commercial independence. The farm itself sells its production in its own store.
