The origin of Easter

Easter is one of the most important holidays in Christianity. It comes directly after Lent which lasts 40 days. Why 40 days? Because it represents the time that Jesus spent in the desert, without eating or drinking despite the temptations of the devil. Easter signifies the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which thus makes possible eternal life.

Did you know ? Easter always takes an “S”, even if we say “the” Easter!

The symbolic color

Among Catholic Christians, white is THE color used to represent the Easter and Christmas periods. It symbolizes the adoration of Christ and the Virgin Mary.

Why is Easter symbolized by eggs and chocolate?

In times of fasting during Lent, eggs that could not be eaten were decorated and then offered, so as not to waste them. Later, in the 18th century, certain German and Alsatian merchants had the idea of emptying them and then filling them with… chocolate! This is why several egg decoration animations are offered during this period.

Did you know ? Louis XIV would have been the first to order chocolate eggs from his pastry chef. A real trendsetter!
