The decline continues in Blendecques (Pas-de-Calais), Saturday January 6. The Aa River has found its bed again. But the arrival of cold and frost worries the residents, who clean their town.

The water has only just receded in Blendecques (Pas-de-Calais). The streets gradually reappear. Martine Gaveau, devastated, returns to her damaged, uninhabitable house. “I have no gas, no electricity, the only thing we have is water“, she notes. There was a meter of water in her house. Her brother, her sister-in-law and her godson rolled up their sleeves to help her clean up.

Clearing and pumping

The family stands together, but the owner still has difficulty seeing the end of the tunnel. “We work all our lives to have something and then you see…“, confides Martine Gaveau, with tears in her eyes. A few streets from her home, her son, Brian, is also at work in her house, with his friends and colleagues. To overcome this ordeal, the residents of Blendecques can also count on the mobilization of firefighters, who began clearing and pumping operations.
