disaster for the former Miss France at Paris Fashion Week

On December 16, 2023, the election of Miss France 2024 was held. This evening marked by the coronation of Ève Gilles was also synonymous with tribute to Geneviève de Fontenay, the emblematic former director of the Miss France committee, who died in August last at the age of 89. For the occasion, around forty former Miss France gathered on stage to give a nice nod to the one nicknamed the lady with the hat.

If Sylvie Tellier found herself at the heart of a controversy for not having respected the dress code, other former Miss France were conspicuous by their absence. We think of Iris Mittenaere who was in Bali at that time, but also of Malika Ménard. Asked about the reasons for her notable absence, the one who had been elected Miss France in 2010 and who had also been the last Miss crowned by Geneviève de Fontenay explained that she was not able to attend the show for reasons medical reasons. The young woman had in fact cracked her meniscus a few days earlier, and was then obliged to remain immobilized for several weeks, so as not to weaken her convalescence.

“I had to and above all I wanted to be present this evening, in Dijon, for the prime time of Miss France. To reunite with my friends, to see the destiny of a young woman change in a fraction of a second and to honor the memory of the lady with the hat. That really meant a lot to me: I am the last Miss France that Geneviève de Fontenay crowned. Being the first or the last in someone’s life, no matter the length or depth of the relationship, creates, without us really having any power of action over it, a particular bond. This was our case. I was keen to pay tribute to her this evening, because she passed away this summer, is more than four months old… the same day as my dad” she declared sadly.

Malika Ménard: her new miss at Paris Fashion Week
This Thursday, February 29, 2024, the former Miss France was once again marked absent… from a Fashion Week show! Since February 26, ready-to-wear brands have been presenting their Fall/Winter 2024 collections one after the other. We were able to see Angèle go to the Courrèges show with a brand new short hairstyle or even Laëtitia Casta make a splash in a leather suit.

Invited to the brand’s fashion show The Unissen, Malika Ménard unfortunately arrived late. However, as is tradition during these events, once the doors are closed, no guest, even distinguished guests, is allowed to enter so as not to disrupt the parade. Devastated, the former Miss France then ended up sitting on the steps of the Palais de Tokyo, the place where the show took place. Malika Ménard’s legendary good humor quickly took over as she did not hesitate to laugh at the situation on Instagram.
