Disappeared in July, singer Sinéad O’Connor died of “natural causes”, according to the conclusions of the judicial investigation

Five months after the death of Sinéad O’Connor at the age of 56, the conclusions of the judicial inquiry were made public on Tuesday January 9 in London: the Irish rock icon died of “natural causes”. After the discovery of the singer’s lifeless body, the police declared that her death was not “not considered suspicious.” In a statement, the court in Southwark, south London, in charge of the investigation into his death, “confirms that Mrs. O’Connor died of natural causes.”

The singer, who became a world star with her cover of Nothing Compares 2 U, a Prince song, in 1990, was found inanimate by the police on July 26, 2023 at his home located in southeast London. His death sparked an avalanche of tributes in Ireland and around the world. Sinéad O’Connor was buried in south Dublin, following a funeral procession along the seafront in Bray, a small town south of Dublin where she lived for 15 years.

In addition to her music, the singer was known for her fight against sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, which she accused of not having sufficiently protected children. In particular, in 1992, she tore up an image of Pope John Paul II on television in the United States, a scene whose images went around the world.

In recent years, Sinéad O’Connor has spoken out on social media, threatening her former associates with legal action, describing her physical and mental health problems, sharing her suicidal thoughts and complicated relationships with her family, and sometimes disappearing . According to her agents, before her death she was finishing a new album, preparing a tour and had plans to bring her autobiography to the screen, Rememberings, released in 2021.
