“He would have been seen for the last time heading for the bridge that spans the Saint-Maurice River,” local authorities said in a statement released Thursday.

The searches are mainly concentrated around the village, more precisely near the river, explained the head of the Wemotaci public security communications mission, Yvon Dubé.

“Family [de l’homme] is worried about his health, ”he said, adding that there would be checks with the mental health service to find out if there had already been interventions with the man.

The SQ as reinforcements

The Sûreté du Québec should arrive on the scene around 11 a.m., said Yvon Dubé. The diving team will check if it is possible to search in the river.

“You should know that there are rapids and a Hydro-Quebec dam not far away,” explained Mr. Dubé, adding that at this time of year the current in the river is quite strong.
