For the pension reform, Emmanuel Macron has made it known that he wants to go quickly. François Bayrou retaliated on Sunday September 18, declaring that he did not want a forced passage.
Barely relaunched, the pension reform is already decried. It divides even in the ranks of the majority. François Bayrou, close to Emmanuel Macron, warned against a forced passage in the Assembly. “We had imagined passing this reform through an almost surreptitious amendment to the social security law financing bill. (…) This is not how you make a big reform, for a country”he commented on Europe 1, Sunday, September 18.
The method is also denounced by the unions. “There cannot be, on the part of the President of the Republic, who was re-elected against a far-right candidate, with actors who took their responsibilities between the two rounds, (…) and walking on their faces a few months later“, declared in the morning on France Inter the secretary general of the CFDT, Laurent Berger, saying he was ready to leave the negotiating table. Faced with trade unions on a war footing, the Minister of Labor tried to reassure, while leaving some doubt about the method and the timetable.
