Anne Hidalgo assures that public transport will not be ready for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. What about accessibility? “The government is fully mobilized on the issue. (…) Of the 1.5 billion [d’euros] which will be mobilized on accessibility, 430 million are actually dedicated to transport. I want to reassure the French, all the stations which will serve the Olympic and Paralympic sites will be accessible, are accessible”says Fadila Khattabi, the minister responsible for disabled people, in 19/20 info, Thursday November 23.

Asked about the situation in the metros, she replied: “In recent years, we have quadrupled the number of accessible stations. It’s an old network [à Paris]. What is important is to allow French people to go to the Olympic and Paralympic sites.”

The employment question

In France, 12% people with disabilities are unemployed. What are the areas for improving employment for people with disabilities? “The unemployment rate has improved. We went from 19% in 2019 to 12%. It’s still too much. We are mobilized and the people I meet (…) tell me: they want to work, they want to be autonomous”indicates the minister, who welcomes the holding of the sixth edition of Duo Day.
